Chapter 1. Preparing for Breastfeeding During Pregnancy

    • Maintain a balanced diet with grains, proteins, vegetables, suitable amount of fat, fruits
    • In the first trimester of pregnancy, consume food rich in folic acid and calcium, such as dark green vegetables, dairy products or nuts
    • Consume different types of fresh food to provide a range of nutrients for your baby
    • Eat frequent but smaller meals
    • Relax when you eat
    • Take a 15-min walk after a meal to reduce fat

 

Don’ts

    • Eat for two; overeat
    • Eat unhygienic food, such as raw salad vegetables, sashimi, seafood, dairy products that are not heat-treated
    • Smoking, drinking

No. The primary function of lecithin is its emulsifying effect, which helps reduce symptoms of blocked milk ducts but does not help increase milk supply. 

  • There is no evidence linking breastfeeding to changes in breast shape. Breast shape is influenced by factors such as aging, lifestyle, the type of bras you wear, and hormonal shifts. Focusing on maintaining healthy habits and wearing suitable bras is more important for breast support.
  • After weaning, your breast shape may change, but your body will adjust. This will take some time.

Some mothers may secrete milk in the late antenatal period, which is normal. If you are already producing milk, simply keep your breasts clean without excessive stimulation. 

If the medical staff are aware that you intend to breastfeed, they will try their best to assist you. However, if needed, you can still request formula from the nurses.
