Chapter 7. Hand Expression of Breastmilk
Self-massage is acceptable depending on the situation. Before breastfeeding, you may apply a warm compress to your breasts for about 3 minutes. Then, use your fingers to massage your breasts in a circular motion, moving from the areola towards the nipple, to stimulate milk flow.
Currently the medical field advises against lactational masseuse as they are not medically trained. Massage by individuals without medical expertise may potentially hurt your breast tissues.
