Chapter 9. Sore or Injured Nipples
- It is best that you identify the cause of blockage
- You may continue to feed your baby on demand
- Switch your breastfeeding position. Align your baby’s chin with the area with blocked ducts
- Massage your breast while feeding
- If you still feel a firm lump on your breast after breastfeeding, you may gently massage your breast and express milk by hand
- If necessary, you may use ice packs to relieve pain after breastfeeding
- Seek help if the situation does not improve
- Seek medical help as soon as possible and maintain a good milk flow
