Chapter 9. Sore or Injured Nipples

  1. It is best that you identify the cause of blockage 
  2. You may continue to feed your baby on demand 
  3. Switch your breastfeeding position. Align your baby’s chin with the area with blocked ducts 
  4. Massage your breast while feeding 
  5. If you still feel a firm lump on your breast after breastfeeding, you may gently massage your breast and express milk by hand 
  6. If necessary, you may use ice packs to relieve pain after breastfeeding 
  7. Seek help if the situation does not improve 
  • Seek medical help as soon as possible and maintain a good milk flow
